Dear Vivian,

It is a long time ago you two, Jim and you, made a visit to Holland. Nice memories! I remember you saying: “yes!!! you are related! you really are from the same family! big ears!!!” When I see my own head in the mirror I still think about that, and say to myself: “big ears…”

And now Jim has passed away. It must be sad and hard for you after so many years together, without him and being alone. We hope you will find comfort and rest in the faith he is in eternal peace now. But nevertheless the lack and the grief must be great. We wish you all strength you do need in these days.

We understood you left the B&B some years ago. I myself have been retired in the summer of 2015, after I had been a minister of the church for 42 years, the last 22 years in ‘Dordrecht cathedral’. We are still living in the church house, we bought it 12 years ago.

Take care, Vivian!
All the best from Jim’s Dutch cousin, and his wife Bep,

Many thanks for your lovely e.mail Viv, we did not receive the pictures but that doesn't matter, you said the flowers were lovely and that you enjoyed them and that was the intention for sending them.

You and Jim were soulmates, and that was evident for all to see when meeting you both. You were meant to be together and your life reflected that. For a while Casey was part of that family, then Maggie Came in to complete the family again and it was a joy to see, let alone be privileged to be a part when staying with you. We hope you find the strength to carry on (as Jim would have wanted),

We seem to be having a bad year, 2016 has not been kind to us, we have lost 3 very good friends throughout the Spring and Summer. I know this is not a patch on your loss, and sincerely wish we could take some of your pain away.

Take comfort in the fact that both you and Jim were a couple in a million, we have never met anyone who could take the place of you both in our hearts and we never will - that's for SURE.

Please keep in touch

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Dear Vivian, You find me crying too because I remind Jim as a very kind, a verý gentle, a very handsome and a very caring and attached man to you, to his dogs , to life and harleys. To me he was a very gentle nad warmhearted host and I never forget my stay with you
What a terrible blow for you, Dear Vivian but you are not alone I see from your obituary guestbook ( which did not allow an entry of mine..) There are a lot of people who estimate and like Jim very much and that will never cease. It so hard to live with death, our greatest mystery. So I join in the row of all those who wish your good beloved Jim eternal peace and joy, who always remember him as a very good person on our earth and who wish you now who recently wrote that you feel still so full of energy that this life energy is giving you strenght, consolation, new perspectives, new good companies.

I embrace you very heartily Dear Vivian from over the ocean and I dont know if you can find a little comfort in an incredible obituary speech which was held in England when a king had died. (see annex)

Much love and Gods blessings for Jim and you!
Yours Christel

My deepest sympathy to you, Jim was quite a guy. The obituary is one of the
best written ones I have seen in a long time. He will long be remembered by
everyone. You are very fortunate to have had him for 55 years.

Dear Vivian,

Our deepest condolences to you and Maggie for your loss. I always looked forward to and enjoyed whenever I got to talk with Jim about big boy toys and other things. The very first time I saw Jim he was working on the tail light of his Jeep and I thought, "boy, I'd like to be doing that". That was before we were introduced. He had a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge in many things and it was a pleasure to have known him.

Sincerely,
Wayne and Sheila Sokach

Dear Jim,
its a long time ago that we met. I remember you gratefully as a very kind and gentle man, as a generous and helpful and as a supporting host and as a very loving husband and as a person that loves dogs very much as I do, too. We had dog walks together which I enjoyed very much .
I do wish you from the bottom of my heart eternal peace and relieve and joy on previously maybe unsuggested wonders. Please pray for us as we pray for you .
Dear Vivian,
you have been happy many, many years to have enjoyed such a stable and deep love with your dear husband Jim. May this happiness strenghten and console you from now on in eyery hour, night and day, because true love is always stronger than the pain due to the loss through death.
Sincerely yours
Christel who reminds you both vividly and dearly always

We're so sorry to hear this. I just lost a close friend last Thursday to endometrial cancer (the one I went to Texas to visit before we came up there in July.) Now Jim! Is there anything we can do for you or him? We will come up if you need us. Please let him know that he is in our thoughts and prayers and keep us posted.

I am so very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I still remember my first visit to your B&B and meeting the two of you. Since we arrived on a motorcycle, Jim had you park the corvette outside so we could park our bike in the garage.....enjoyed many more 4th of July celebrations at your B&B and always thought of you both as dear friends. May your lifetime of memories bring you and Maggie comfort during this difficult time. Love you Viv!

Although I am many miles away, I have missed the humor and love of life that Jimmy always showed, and the love he showed in his own personal for Vivian. I have missed this for more than 15 years, but I will never forget it. God bless you Vivian. I know Jimmy is in a place where he will never grow older, never have pain or sorrow, and where you and he will sometime be united in the love he had for you. My Aloha, to you both, Good by my friend Jimmy and I love you my friend Vivian.
