Gordon K. ("Chub") Pickering

Newark – Gordon Kenneth Pickering "Chub", 77 entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the House of John.

     Family will greet the friends on Saturday (Oct. 29) from 1 to 4 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 4 p.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark. A private burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery.

     Chub was born the son of the late Kenneth and Florence (Orbaker) Pickering on Thursday, December 29, 1938 in Canandaigua, NY. He attended Palmyra and Newark Schools. After 42 years at Garlock Corp, Gordon retired as a machine operator. After retirement Chub worked for the village as a Crossing Guard and as a boat attendant at Spencer Park until 2015. He was a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department – Deluge Hose Co. for 48 years. Chub enjoyed working on puzzles, hunting, four wheeling and just every day chores around his home.

     Chub will be loving remembered by his wife of 53 years and caregiver Sharon (Noble) Pickering; children Karen (Scott) Elling and David K. Pickering both of Clifton Springs; grandchildren Joshua, Kevin his friend Katie, Joanna, Maddison, Colin and Elizabeth; sisters Ruth DeBrock of Shortsville and Linda (Chuck) Trimble of Phelps; sisters-in-law Janet Ransley of Lock Berlin and Alma (Carl) Larsen of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews.

     Chub was predeceased by his brothers-in-law John DeBrock and Wayne Noble.
