Wayne Long

Lyons - Wayne Long, 72, passed on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Laurel House Comfort Care Home. 

Wayne was born on Monday, July 28, 1952, in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Teddy and Margaret (Decker) Long. He grew up in Newark and graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1971. He worked as a steel rule die maker throughout his career. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed camping and woodworking. Above all, Wayne valued a quiet, simple life spent with his family, finding joy in the little moments they shared together. 

Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-two years, Laurie Long; his children, Darryl Long, Michael (Jenn Maine) Long, and Deana (Kevin) Timmerman; his grandchildren, Myishia (Reggie), DJ (Brielle), Tahj, Michael Jay, Aleeya, Aniya, Kendall, and Nolan; and great-grandchildren, Asher, Kyia, and Hudson. He is also survived by his siblings, Teddy (Cherie Mignone) Long, Dianna Long, Glenn Long, Deborah (Brian Thorne) Hansen; his half-sister, Constance (Colin) MacLennon; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday June 22, 2025, at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller Street, Newark. Following the visitation, a brief memorial service will be held for family and close friends.
