Virginia "Ginny" Compitello
Clyde - Virginia "Ginny" Compitello, 101 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, with her family by her side.
Ginny was born on Wednesday, August 15, 1923, in Lyons, NY, the daughter of the late Santos and Margaret (Fischette) Cipriano. She spent her life in Clyde, NY, graduating from Clyde Central School. Ginny and her husband owned and operated a dry cleaning business for several years. Later, she worked as a teacher's aide until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing cards-especially "Spite and Malice"-and always insisted on playing true to the game's name. A very social person and one of the best huggers ever, Ginny loved spending time with family and friends and never passed up an opportunity to be with them. She was a member of a senior dancing group and danced until she was 93 years young. Ginny was also a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Ginny will be remembered by her daughters, Karen Norton, Anne (Chip Miller) Bastian, Sandy (James) Logan, and Sue (Ed) DeLuca; her grandchildren Shelley (Pete), Kimberly (Zach), Eric (Jill), Kevin (Alicia), Ashley (Christian), Shauna (Eric), Stephanie (Rob), Kendra, Britney, and Joe (Stephanie); twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolly and Joy; a brother Ronnie (Sandy); and many nieces and nephews.
Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Albert Compitello in 2006; a son-in-law, Roger Norton; and her siblings, Viv, Alvin, Marge and Florence.
Please join the family at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 114 Sodus St, Clyde, NY 14433, for Ginny's celebration of life funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, 157 W Genesee St., Clyde, NY 14433, in memory of Ginny.
