Newark - Valerie VanHorn, 61, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Rochester General Hospital.
   
The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday (June 11) at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark. Valerie's graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday (June 14) at Somerset Cemetery in Barker, NY with Father Stephen Soars officiating.

Valerie was born the daughter of the late Harold and Thelma (Bowman) VanHorn on Sunday, March 27, 1960, in Newark, NY. She grew up in Barker, NY, graduating high school. Valerie enjoyed walking, reading, and cheering for her favorite team, the Buffalo Bills. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with friends and family.    

Valerie will be remembered by her cousin, Tom (Jenny) Laughlin; and special friend, Suzie Miller.

Valerie was predeceased by her aunts and uncles, James (Marion), Lawrence, Howard Bowman, Katherine Strohm, and George (Gladys) Laughlin.
