Shirley A. Scheetz

Newark - Shirley A. Scheetz, 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Shirley was born the daughter of the late William H. and Marilyn J. (Feiock) Mills on Sunday, February 15, 1953, in Bradenton, Florida. She grew up attending school in both Lyons, New York, and Bradenton, Florida.

Shirley later settled in Newark, where she dedicated over forty years of her career to the Newark Developmental Center, working as a caregiver both in residential homes and in the day program. She had a love for travel, especially to Florida and Asheville, North Carolina, where she enjoyed visiting family. Shirley cherished time spent with her grandchildren and granddogs, and she generously volunteered with various local veterans organizations. She also enjoyed thrifting and finding unique treasures.

Shirley will be remembered by her lifelong partner, Kenneth Magee; her children, Tobias Scheetz and Michael (Rebecca) Magee; her grandchildren, Brittney Scheetz, Megan Scheetz, Matthew Mountz, Austin Magee, and Michael F. Magee; her siblings, James (Debbie) Mills, Richard Mills, William H. Mills, Kathleen Mills, and Jennifer (Scott) Cook; as well as several nieces and nephews.

All are invited to join the family from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Newark American Legion, 200 East Union Street, Newark, NY 14513. Private burial will be in Newark Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Laurel House, 224 Fair Street, Newark, NY 14513, in memory of Shirley.
