Newark - Sergio Olivera Alvarado, 52, died Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital after a long courageous battle with a cruel disease, ALS.

Sergio was born the son of the late Antonio Olivera Dominguez and Leonarda Alvarado Medina. His lifelong occupation was roofing and he worked for multiple companies including Butch Handyman Services, Abe Lincoln Services, and Superior Exteriors Inc. Sergio enjoyed gardening with his children, fishing and camping with his children and his wife's family, working on cars and other projects with his brother-in-law and best friend (Quinton), watching fireworks with his wife and children, during the pandemic he loved going for "Sunday" drives with his wife and children, and attend Calvary Life Center. He was a very giving person. He would give his last dollar to anyone that he thought needed it and not think twice. Above all else, Sergio loved his family especially his wife and children.

Sergio will be remembered by his wife, Marcia Plain-Olivera; his stepdaughter, Amber Plain; his son, Edgardo Olivera Plain; his daughter, Leonarda Olivera Plain; his twin sons Antonio and Miguel Olivera Plain; he is predeceased by his brother, Edgardo Olivera Alvarado, remembered by his sisters Isabel and Liodora Olivera Alvarado; nephew, Eleazar Jr. Albarran Olivera; nieces Juanita and Jennifer Albarran Olivera; his wife's family, sister-in-law, Danielle Porter (Quinton) and their children Rayne and Quinton Jr.; sister-in-law, Kerri Plain and her children Kristopher, Sandra, Adelyna and Amorya; brother-in-law, Ronald Plain; and brother-in-law, Matthew Plain (Sky) and their children Vincent and Star; long time family friend, Sara McMillan and children, his roofing friends Joshua Morphy, Angel Guzman, Ben and Stanley Cook, and many other people he has touched throughout his wonderful life.
