Sandra dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She worked as an outpatient nurse at the Newark Developmental Center before continuing her nursing career at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Throughout her career, she was respected for her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of her patients.
Sandra married the love of her life, Edward Dodson. They shared many wonderful years together until Edward's passing in June 2016. Sandra's greatest joy was gathering family and friends. She loved cooking and baking for those she loved and was happiest when entertaining around a table filled with delicious food, laughter, and conversation. Whether preparing a favorite family recipe, serving homemade desserts, or sharing a well-made cocktail or a glass of wine, Sandra had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome. Those who knew Sandra also knew her playful spirit. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that kept family and friends laughing for years. Whether she was expertly short-sheeting a bed, turning off the hot water while someone was in the shower, or finding another harmless way to tease those she loved, Sandra delighted in sharing laughter and creating memories that would become family legends. Her warmth, generosity, and gracious hospitality created countless treasured memories that will live on for generations.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Dr. Theresa (Dan) Gibbs, and their sons, Alexander and Jonathan; her stepchildren, Kim (Lee) Boise, Peter (Reenie) Dodson, and Keltie Dodson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and dear friends.
