His roots were firmly planted in the area where he attended Perkins School and later Newark High School. Following school, Robert embarked on a journey with the Newark School District, starting as a deliveryman before transitioning into a custodial role, where he dedicated thirty-one years before retiring.
Throughout his life, Bob found joy in various pursuits including traveling alongside his beloved wife, Anne, indulging in hunting and fishing adventures, and tending to his cherished gardens. His skilled hands crafted woodwork, fashioning cabinets, bookshelves, and offering plates for their church. Bob was an active member at Maranatha Baptist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees and assuming the role of Board Chairman for a span of two years.
.
Bob will be remembered by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Anne Blackman; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and his supportive church family and friends.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, Donald Blackman.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff for their exceptional care and unwavering compassion extended to Robert and his loved ones during this challenging time.
