Phyllis J. Harder

Newark - Phyllis Jean Harder, 91, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Wayne County Nursing Home.

Phyllis was born the daughter of the late Easter Claude and Nellie (Case) Fitch on Monday, December 2, 1929, in Phelps, NY. Phyllis spent her life in the area and worked for several years at Newark Developmental Center, where she would eventually retire. Phyllis was the past President of the PTA and den mother when her children were young. After her retirement, she organized senior bus trips. Phyllis enjoyed clothes shopping and spending time with her family.

Phyllis will be remembered by her daughter, Brenda Westcott; son, David Harder; grandchildren Matthew (Traci) Westcott and Benjamin Harder; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Larry) Allen; five nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth A. Harder in 1985; infant daughter, Ellen Harder; grandaughter, Martina Harder; son-in-law, Richard Westcott; brother, Norman (Connie) Fitch; special friend Gordon Dusharm.

All services will be private at the convenience of the family.
