Mary Jeane Belair
Newark - Mary J. Belair, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at DeMay Living Center.
Mary was born the daughter of Francis and Evelyn (Lampman) French, on a Friday, March 19, 1937, in Utica, NY. Raised in Clyde, NY, she graduated from Clyde High School before pursuing nursing. Graduating from nursing school, Mary embarked on a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, dedicating herself to the nursing profession until her retirement from Wayne County Nursing Home, where she served as the Director of Nurses. Beyond her professional life, Mary found joy in traveling, camping, and, above all, cherishing moments with her family. She also generously dedicated her time to volunteering at the Newark Food Closet for many years.
Mary will be remembered by her children Michelle McDonald, Steven (Maureen) Belair, Karen Hartman, Joan (Craig) Seely and Rodney (Kelly) Belair; her fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Neva) French; many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, James in 2001; a sister, Shirley Noble in 2023; and her parents.
In honor of Mary's wishes all services will remain private.
