Clifton Springs/Port Gibson - Jeannette V. Hammond, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2022, at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark, NY 14513. Jeannette's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Port Gibson United Methodist Church, 2951 Grieg Street, Port Gibson, NY 14537. Burial will be in Port Gibson Cemetery.

Jeannette was born the daughter of the late Edward and Viola (Campbell) Smith on Monday, September 28, 1936, in Walworth, NY. She spent her life in the Clifton Springs area, graduating from Clifton Springs High School. She then worked as a finisher at Westplex in Manchester, NY, until her retirement. Jeannette enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her dog, Rosie.

Jeannette will be remembered by her children Dale Hammond, David (Melody Langdon) Hammond, Donna (James) Mason and Daryl Hammond; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Jeannette was predeceased by husband, Donald Leon Hammond; brothers Kenneth Smith and Gerald Smith.
