Newark - Janet West, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023.
The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark. Please join the family at 12 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Newark Cemetery for Janet's graveside service.

Janet was born the daughter of the late Charlie and Polly (Prater) Orsborne on Saturday, January 17, 1942, in West Prestonsburg, KY. She grew up in Kentucky, attending high school there. Her family relocated to the Newark area in the late 1950s. Janet met her soon-to-be husband in 1963 and would have been married for sixty years this February. From working at Newark Florist for twenty years to her immaculate gardens at home, Janet enjoyed tending to her flowers; passers-by would stop to look and take pictures.
Janet will be remembered by her loving husband, Vincent West; her children Ruby (Gilbert) Edwards, Regina Zubb; grandchildren Gilbert Edwards, Benjamin Zubb, Miranda Zubb and Abbey Rose Zubb; sisters Margaret (John) DeRossett, Billie Joe Heers and Lisa Ippolito; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Orsborne; several nieces and nephews.
Janet was predeceased by her son, William Connolly; her granddaughter, April Edwards; siblings Billie Sue (Fred) Sapp, Patricia Caraballo, Charles (Linda) Orsborne and Albert Orsborne.
