James Francis Hurley
Newark - James Francis Hurley, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Laurel House with family by his side.
Please join the family at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at St. Michael Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, NY for Jim's funeral mass. Burial will follow in East Newark Cemetery.

James Hurley was born in Rochester, New York, the son of the former city of Rochester Fire Commissioner John F. Hurley and his mother, Irene Dolan. He was a veteran of the Army's 1st Infantry Division. He was a former member of the NYSP, Sheriff of Wayne County, a member of the NYS Assembly, a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and a key executive with Coltec Industries. Jim was a member of the Board of Directors of many not-for-profit and community organizations. Jim was fire and police commissioner for the city of Beloit, Wisconsin and chairman of the board for the town of Malabar, Florida. A Life long Republican and chairman of the Wayne County Republican Committee. He loved golfing, hunting, and fishing, especially in Northern Canada and the US. He was a member of the association of former NYS troopers, American Legion Post 1425, and the Hill-Top Gun Club-Clyde, NY
James is predeceased by his parents; his brother, John and a sister, Joanne.
Jim is survived by his wife, Teresa; step-son, Nicholas; four children, Tim, Margaret, Terry and Bob; two grandchildren Shane and Shea; sister, Kathy; brother, Kevin and many nieces and nephews.
