Newark - Irene M. Drave, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, surrounded by her family.

The family invites you to join them at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at St. Michael Church, 401 South Main Street, Newark, NY. Private burial will take place at Marion Cemetery.

Irene was born on Thursday, November 8, 1928, in Phelps, NY. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary VanWaes. Irene was a seamstress who owned her own business. She and Melvin lived in Hawaii for sixteen years, and she worked for the Singer Corporation. Irene loved her family and cherished spending time with them. Her hobbies included quilting, cooking, and gardening. Irene was a communicant of St. Michael Church and a member of the Woodlane Quilting Club.

Irene will be remembered by her children Stephen Drave of Pocono, PA and Scott (Mary) Drave of Newark; her granddaughter, Dr. Candice (Dr. Thomas O'Dell) Drave of Newark, NY; a sister, Lorraine Hartnagel of Newark, NY; several nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her loving husband, Melvin in 2004.
