Fred J. Pirelli

Newark - Fred "Colonel" Pirelli, 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the DeMay Living Center.

Private entombment at White Haven Memorial Park. A memorial service for Fred will be announced at a later date.

Fred was born the son of the late John and Louise (Munda) Pirelli on Thursday, September 26, 1935 in Boston, MA. Fred graduated high school enlisted in the Army and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He attended Boston University graduating with a degree in engineering. Fred and Jean settled in Newark and Fred would eventually retire from Xerox in 1993. Fred was the past Mayor of Newark, serving from 1993 - 2001 and a Newark Trustee for 12 years. Fred was a member of American Legion, VFW, Elks and Knight of Columbus.

Fred will be remembered by his son, Fred (Colleen) Pirelli; grandchildren Richard Pirelli, Robyn (Patrick Chamberlain) Pirelli and Brittney (Tim Currier) Pirelli; great-granddaughter, Annabelle Chamberlain; several nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Jean in 2015
