Emmanuel was born on Friday, July 27, 1928, in the Bronx, New York, the son of the late Rafael "Ralph" A. Marcano and Petra (Flores) Marcano. He grew up in the Bronx, where he attended high school before joining the Merchant Marines. Emmanuel proudly served for several years on numerous ships. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as an engineer for New York State and his career brought him to the Newark area in 1958, where he raised his family.
Emmanuel purchased a very rustic farm home, which he restored himself, and maintained a small farm for additional income to sustain his family. He enjoyed caring for his cherry trees and animals. In his free time, he loved reading, helping his children with projects, and even built a sailboat.
After numerous assignments around NYS, he eventually retired in 1983 and returned to his beloved farm in Newark where he enjoyed spending his last years surrounded by his precious home and family.
Emmanuel will be remembered by his children, Marjorie Marcano, Jain (Winston) Vargas, Susan Scott, Emmanuel Jr. (Nancy) Marcano, Eric (Sue) Marcano, Orrin (Michelle) Marcano and Tomas (Amy) Marcano; his twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
Emmanuel was predeceased by his wife, Elinor, in 1993; grandchild, Adrien Vargas in 2019; son-in-law, Ronald Scott in 2025; and siblings, Ralph Marcano and Florence (Erine) Polverino.
