Dan DeWolf was born on May 10, 1971, in Newark, NY, to Edward and Betty (Fisher) DeWolf. A devoted local resident, Dan graduated from Newark High School in the class of 1989 and honed his skilled trade in welding and fabricating at BOCES during his high school years.
Dan was a dedicated welder/fabricator throughout his career, most recently showcasing his excellence at Halstead Machine. However, it was his selflessness and humble nature that truly defined him. Dan was a silent force for good, consistently helping others without seeking recognition. He demonstrated this generous spirit as a thirty-two-year member of the Fairville Fire Department, where he served as a past Fire Chief. His contributions were immeasurable, earning him the prestigious "Fireman of the Year" award multiple times, and he tirelessly undertook various tasks for the fire department during his long and impactful tenure.
Faith played a central role in Dan's life, and he was an active member of the Newark Assembly of God. His dedication to his church reflected his solid values and principles. In his leisure time, Dan found joy in riding his motorcycle and pursuing his passion for hunting. However, Dan cherished his family above all else, with memorable moments spent with his beloved granddaughter holding a special place in his heart.
Dan will be remembered by his son, Chet DeWolf; his granddaughter, Addyson DeWolf; his mother, Betty DeWolf; siblings, Edward Jr. (Renee) DeWolf and Greg (Tammy) DeWolf; a sister-in-law, Carol Austin; his nieces and nephews Allison, Mitchell (Alissa), McKenzie, Aliza, Christina, Rebecca, Jeffrey, and Aleisha; and many friends.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Edward Sr., 2019; and a brother, Jeffrey Austin.
