Newark - Christina Palella, 58, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Christina was born on Tuesday, November 15, 1966, in Newark, NY, the daughter of David and Kay (Huling) Smith. A lifelong resident of Newark, she graduated from Newark High School with the Class of 1984. From a young age, Christina pursued a passion for cosmetology, eventually becoming the proud owner of Revive Salon and Spa. Her salon was more than a business-it was her second home, a place where she built lasting relationships and found joy in serving her cherished clients.

Christina recently retired due to declining health, but her heart remained with the work and people she loved. In her personal life, she enjoyed playing cards, crafting, cooking special meals for family and friends, and traveling to her favorite place-Vermont. Above all, Christina treasured the time spent with her children, who were the center of her world.

Christina will be remembered by her husband, Howard Palella, her children Anthony Palella and Lucius Palella; her mother, Kay Smith; sisters Renae (Ken) Cooiman and Anita Smith; and her loving uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Mark Mazur.

Christina is predeceased by her father, David Smith in 2019; maternal grandparents Eugene (Christina) Huling and parternal grandparents, Charles (Orra) Smith.

The family will greet friends on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 West Miller Street, Newark. A memorial service for Christina will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the funeral home.
