Newark - Carol J. Holbrook, 77, passed away after a brief illness with her family by her side on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark. All other services will remain private.

On a Monday, November 18, 1946, in Dansville, NY, Carol entered the world as the daughter of Ike and Elizabeth (Shutz) Holbrook. She grew up in the Dansville area. Post-graduation, her dedication to her family led her straight into the workforce. Her career spanned different paths-beginning with Seneca Foods for several years, followed by an extensive twenty-year tenure at IEC. Choosing never to embrace retirement, Carol remained actively engaged, dedicating her time to fruit farms in more recent years.

Known affectionately as a "mother to all," her love for her family was boundless. Beyond her familial ties, she found solace and joy in knitting and crocheting. Alongside her closest friend, Gloria, Carol found pleasure in bingo nights, often accompanied by ice cream.

Carol is the proud mother of, Naomi Wilbur, Sixto Peña Matta, Jr. and Feliz (Tanya) Matta; Luis Arturo Hernandez; Rafael (Katherine) Sanabria, Jr.; her grandchildren Katherine, Nate, Chris, Samantha and Simone; great-grandchildren, Mckenna Rae, Myah Rose; her siblings Jane Pierce, Debbie Schneckenburger and Gloria Sanchez; many nieces and nephews.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Ike and Elizabeth Holbrook.
