Newark - Betty Ann VanAuken, 101, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. Betty's graveside service will follow visitation at 4 p.m. at Newark Cemetery, North Main Street, Newark, NY.

Betty was born the daughter of the late Sherman and Marjorie (Floodman) Wilson on Monday, January 12, 1925, in Newark, NY. She was an excellent student and graduated from Newark High School at the age of 16. Betty devoted herself to raising her family and, once her children were in school, worked as a bookkeeper for various companies.

She was a lifelong member of Newark First United Methodist Church and the Newark Garden Club. Betty loved her gardens and flowers, and she enjoyed attending concerts at the Sodus Point Lighthouse. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting, and she especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including special outings with Breille.

Betty will be remembered by her son, Paul (Kimberlee) VanAuken; her daughter, Brianne (Paul Singer) Benge; her grandchildren, Caprice VanAuken, Laura (Zachary) Berghash, Mikel V. VanAuken, Breille Benge, and BJ Benge; and her great-grandchildren, Ellison and Grace Berghash.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Gordon W. VanAuken, in 1999; and her grandsons, Mikel P. VanAuken and Aaron VanAuken.
