Newark – Richard “Smokey” Lewis Matthys, 81 entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.

Family will greet friends Tuesday (July 24) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark. A Graveside Service will be Wednesday (July 25) at 11 a.m. in Newark Cemetery, N. Main St, Newark.

Smokey will be remembered by his son, Jeffrey Matthys; daughter, Melissa (Joseph) Marchitell; grandsons, Zachary Matthys and Patrick Marchitell; brother, Donald (Erika) Matthys; sisters, Shirley (Ken) Warner and Dorothy Furman; many nieces and nephews.

Smokey was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Cora (VanDelde) Matthys.
