Margaret DeLeeuw Obituary

Newark - Margaret Jean DeLeeuw, 85 entered eternal rest on Friday, April 13, 2018, at her home.

Family will greet friends (NOTE THE DATE) Saturday (April 28) from 2 to 4PM at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St, Newark.  Private burial in East Newark Cemetery.

Margaret was born the daughter of the late Clarence R and Helen (Frelier) Bruinsma on Tuesday, February 28, 1933, in Marbletown, NY.  She spent her life in the Newark area, graduating from Newark High School, class of 1950. Margaret worked for the Town of Arcadia as Tax Receiver retiring in 1998. She also served for the Wayne County Board of Elections for several years. Margaret was known for her pies, sold at many area restaurants, farm markets, churches, and individual families throughout Wayne County area. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Penfield. She and her late husband, John were very involved with the new construction of Woodlane Community Church then known as Arcadia Reformed Church.

Margaret enjoyed traveling and attending the Gaither Home Coming Gospel Concerts.

Margaret will be remembered by her brother, Richard "Dick" (Sheila) Bruinsma; nephew, Barry (Patricia) Bruinsma; niece, Beth (James) Chang.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, John DeLeeuw in September of 1994.
