Lyons/Newark - Ernest Vermeulen, 93 entered eternal rest on Monday, February 20, 2017.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Park Presbyterian Church in Newark, NY. Private burial in Marion Cemetery.
In memory of Mr. Vermeulen, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a charity of choice.
Mr. Vermeulen was born the son of Cornelius and Catherine (Taillie) Vermeulen on Monday, March 12, 1923 in Sodus, NY, the youngest of fifteen children. He was a long-time member of the Park Presbyterian Church in Newark as well as a member of the Lyons American Legion. Mr. Vermeulen had worked for several companies over the years as a press operator, Fold Pak and Stecher-Traung-Schmidt Corp. in Rochester. He enjoyed traveling, boating and loved his gardens.
The funeral home proudly flies the Navy Flag in honor of his service to our country during WWII.
Mr. Vermeulen will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Thelma (Gobeyn) Vermeulen; daughters Judy Prutsman and Nancy Vermeulen; son Bruce (Amy) Vermeulen; grandchildren Gary (Jody) Prutsman Jr. and Jody Prutsman, Christine, Deborah and Jennifer Vermeulen, Hannah Shepeck, Elizabeth and Kathryn Vermeulen; great grandchildren Morgan and Taryn Prutsman, Jacqualynn Currier and Jacob Pate and Zayla Shepeck; sister-in-law Mildred Vermeulen; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Vermeulen was predeceased by seven brothers and seven sisters.
