Edwin L. "Ed" Cook

Newark - Edwin Leonard "Ed" Cook 87, died Friday, January 17, 2003 at Via Health of Wayne- Newark.

There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends may attend a Memorial Service Saturday (Jan. 25) at 1 pm at the Arcadia Reformed Church, Woodlane, Newark, with Rev. William Crowder and Rev. Gerald Harris officiating. Burial will be at Newark Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Cook was born the son of Christopher and Armeda Smith Cook on April 16, 1915 in Newark, New York. He worked for Newark Developmental Center for over 40 years as a LPN.

He was a member of the Arcadia Reformed Church and a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department, NY Central Hose Co. # 5 joining on June 1, 1947. He was a past member of the Order of Odd Fellows. Mr. Cook was a great fan of baseball and basketball and bowling. Earlier in his life he played baseball for the Newark State School and bowled on a league in Lyons.

Mr. Cook is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Mary Kane Cook; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Charles Wofford of Washington State; grandchildren Joshua and Yasmin Wofford of Washington State; sister Esther Glerum of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Mr. Cook was predeceased by his parents and brother Gordon.
