Clifton Springs/Newark – Ann Ruth (Havert) VanOoyen, 90 entered into the joy of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at her residence.

     Family will receive friends on Thursday (Aug. 25) from 10 to 11 a.m. at East Palmyra Christian Reformed Church, 2057 Port Gibson Rd. Palmyra where a Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in East Palmyra Cemetery.

     In memory of Mrs. VanOoyen, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the church or East Palmyra Christian School, 2023 East Palmyra Port Gibson Road Palmyra, NY 14522.

     Mrs. VanOoyen was born the daughter of the late Philip and Martha (Bruinsma) Havert on Tuesday, July 20, 1926 in Rochester, NY. She was a graduate of Newark High School class of 1944. After high school she married her loving husband, William on October 27, 1948. Mrs. VanOoyen retired from the Newark Developmental Center where she worked as an Assistant Physical Therapist. As a member of the East Palmyra Reformed Church she was the church organist for over 50 years. Mrs. VanOoyen enjoyed crafts, computers and church activities.

     Mrs. VanOoyen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years William VanOoyen; sons Daniel VanOoyen of Florida and Eric (Nancy) VanOoyen of E. Palmyra; daughter Karen (Arthur “AC”) Ophoff of Michigan; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
